Warning - **I babble***

OK so I have/had a small frag of pink pompom xenia. It grew...and grew...and grew. I positioned some small rocks to catch the new stalks thinking ok I can trade them for people, stores...no one wants it. I went a week with out moving the rocks and it grew onto a big rock. Tonight I came home to find a frag fell behind the rocks. Top off arm deep...Got it. Now I realize how many stalks attached to the big rock. Razor...razor I cut them away. But shoot I think I lost a piece. I move the pieces to a in tank frag (OK its a soap dish).

So is this stuff like bubble algae...cut it and it goes everywhere?

Anyone want some? I am thinking I dont.

Does xenia elongatta grow like this? How about the blue stuff?

Damm @%@!%*(^$@#@ xenia!

lol... Im in the same boat, got xenia growing like crazy and cant get rid of it... I want to just rip it all out.. but cant... everyone in my house loves it... :| Im out voted

want some? :D

BTW as soon as you cut it off the rock with a razor, any of that pink base that's left on the rock will grow back. I dealt with it until an unfortunate/fortunate incident of some fluke tabs getting into the tank, which within a week melted all the xenia away, however leaving behind a HUGE nutrient problem that fueled all this HA growth that I'm still fighting...

The other xenias grow a lot, but some in different patterns. I know Chrisaggie's yellow encrusting xenia encrust so they grow much slower, and people are much more willing to trade/buy them as they're rarer as well. Blue xenia (I'm assuming that you mean cespitularia) grow incredibly slowly, have weird tank requirements I believe, and are expensive as crap ($125 per stalk). There was a thread about it a while back.

Someone mentioned their sixline that ate xenia....

I got a 6line does not nip at anything but my firefish.

I had some xenia elongata but it went away ove the course of about 3-4 days. Poof gone. Heck I think that I will just put another rock over the spot so that it does not get any light, Mabey I will get a new screwdriver and do some scraping first.

Heck if I have to go in every two weeks and cut a stalk off thats not that bad.

I guess there are so many other corals to enjoy I should not worry about any more xenia. Yea I did mean cespitularia. Cool looking. But I think that I will just get an acan.

You can scrape Xenia off a rock and if you leave the tiniest little bit it will regenerate. It's amazing stuff!

I got a frag of some blue xenia from Morgan like a month or so ago and its already twice in size and spreading fast...

Hey Joe, I'll take some if you don't mind dude. I eventually plan on making my frag tank all if not mostly SPS but for now I've got a bunch of Xenia growing in there, Morgans blue Xenia (which grows well) Pulsating, non pulsating. I think the yellow Xenia is nice.

Let me know

you can hit me up @ compulou @ hotmail dot com

I took pics last night but forgot to download them from the camera, I'll post them when I get home today.
