xenia all over

I have some Red Sea Xenia that is taking over where it maybe shouldn't! It has moved over onto the top of a power head and all over the filter box on my remora skimmer. How do I clean the power head and skimmer box without hurting the xenia? Has anyone else had it move to wierd places?
