Xenia growth on a maxima

Should I be concern and try to scrape it off my clam? If so what is the best method to do this? Thanks

i woild definately take off the xenia. because soon the xenia will grow larger and will compete for light with the maxima and unfortunately the maxima will lose if the xenia is not removed. try to get your nail and get as close as you can to the base of the xenia and GET ALL THE XENIA TISSUE OFF THE SHELL! even a small amount of left behind tissue will regenerate and just grow again. make sure to get it off asap before it starts growing larger.

It will be fine out of the water while you scrape the xenia off.

Yeah but just make sure if you take him out of the water, make sure all the air is out of him when you put him back in. any left over air can cause problems.

turn him a few times in all different directions in the water.rotate him around a few times.
