Xenia in Syracuse

I've got a nano setup for the kiddos, and would love some xenia. Anyone in the Syracuse area have any growing on the walls for free or sale?

yoiu did? lol i didnt know i had red xenia lol. JJ, ill be around , give me a shout if u need it. im sure pascale will hook u up though

Don't kill me guys, but I've been working every day that I wasn't out of town traveling, so I still don't have any Xenia and would still be grateful for a bunch. If anyone still has it available, could you PM or email me so we can work out a time for me to pick some up? Again, super grateful...

I thought of getting Xenia for my 15nano but I was told it would get too hard to maintain, from both book and people sources? I'm going to guess by the responses that you guys feel otherwise?

Not sure if it's the (noob) in me, but I don't really see the difference. I guess by too hard to maintain, I meant more along the lines of the fact that I heard it would "take over the tank?"

If you put it next to the glass, it will eventually start growing from the glass and spread.

If you place it on an island of rock that's not touching anything else, it will fill in on that rock and mostly kept at bay on that rock only.

If you nip it in the bud when it starts to grow somewhere undesired, you should be good.

The above require a little work, but not so much as to dissuade me from having some. If you can monitor it and provide some husbandry here and there you should be fine. You need to weigh the work against your desire for it. If you let it get unruly, it will take over your tank as people have warned you.

That's really awesome you guys are sharing. If anyone is ever by Ithaca and wants some bumpy mushrooms that are pink and green I've got an island going and could definitely weed it a bit. These are definitely an island coral, though, they spread to several rocks before I became diligent and I had to chisel them off and make an island. My percula clown loves them!

I'd love some xenia, but rarely make it to Syracuse. I might get there in the next couple weekends, though, as I have some things I may need to return at the mall.

Cheers,
Angela

Thanks for the advice Jeremy, in the end that's what I came to assume as well. I guess I just came across several people who had a passion against xenia and gave me more of one sided advice. One of my friend has/had blue xenia that he was trying to get rid of that I almost bought off of him. I'll contact him tomorrow and see if he still has it (if you're interested?), as I'm probably going to plan out a trip to Syracuse anyway to see my friends new bar.
