Xenia issue's ?

So I was looking at some of my xenia and the arms of it below the fingers about an inch. Ive noticed that about an inch below the fingers on most, some further down on the arms is turning white. It kind looks like someone took some thread and tied it really tight around the arm. They looked all pinched and the color has changed on them.

Also one of my other xenias had some of the tissue turn yellow on it, the yellow is going away but the stalks have stayed very small since.

Anyone got any info on this.

Check the salinity. If the salinity is high, they tend to shrink up. They don't like change at all. When topping off, make sure you don't hit them with FW. That really pees them off.
It may also be time to change the PC bulbs. I see my Xenia polyps reaching and looking liks strings of pearls. My bulbs are right at 10 months old.

Bulbs are fine, They are just about 6 months old. They were stretching for the light when the bulbs were brand new. My salinity is about 1.026...

Be sure to check pH and Alk.
How are you checking the salinity? If you have a swing-arm hydrometer, you may want to rinse it with vinegar and then distilled water and compare your reading. It's already reading on the high side, and if it's off a bit you may be pretty salty there. After Rich's demo I invested in a refractometer. Another cool toy, just as vital as that new hammer drill the spouse needed.

Definatly check your ph, they do not do well in low ph water IME. You might want to do a water change just in case too, good luck!.

Alkalinity affect Xenia very fast.....Xenia are known to be the "canary in the coal mine" of reef tanks.....start there if you are positive on the Salinity.......run a complete test for Ammonia, and Nitrate if Alk is cool......problems to come I say........

With PC's thats the time they start shifting and need replacing actually

Good light, pH of at least 8.2, drop the salinity down between 1.023-1.025 and you should be good to go again.

well I did a alk test the other day and it read 12.8KH 4.57 alk.

I will check PH tomorrow. I just added 5 gallons of RO water tonight.
My salinty is at 1.028 tonight I checked, I am using a swing arm, I have two I use to test the salinty.
