xenia not doing good for some reason

i have had a frag of this xenia for about 3 weeks. when i got it from the fish store it looked great and pulsed like crazy, but it took about a week in my tank for about half of it to start opening up and barely pulse. my water peramiters are great and have t5 lighting. the tenticles arent full and wide either, just extended.
thanks

they seem to like more nutrient laden water..some people try for years and can never keep it..some cant keep it controlled..-drew

I HIGHLY doubt it is lack of nutrients. Perhaps that is just how it will look in your tank. My xenia are all genetic duplicates, but they look entirely different in each of my tanks.

hmm... ok. kinda odd i guess, but ok. about half of them pulse, but slow. i've tried high in the tank to low in the tank, low current to high current. noting raelly helped. thanks for ur input though

Although there are ideas as to why they pulse, nobody really knows for sure. I bought some for my tank and they stopped pulsing too. After talking to my very knowledgeable LFS, it was assumed that they stopped because I had them in a high flow area.

Maybe you could try putting it in a lower flow area to see what happens.

My LFS and others that I have talked to about the subject have told me that xenia is one of those corals that you either have great success with, or you can't keep them no matter what you try to do.

I don't know how many times I tried to kill mine off did everything except put the rock in the oven.... one day I even did 40 frags and a month later it was back. Don't know what to tell you.

I used aptasia control and that finally killed it all off! I'll hand it to you guys that want this stuff, I thought it was cool at first to, but after splitting and trying to overtake my palys, that was it! The war was on, and I won!
