XM 10K Bulb Problem

Hi guys!

I was hoping you can advise me as to what to do. I purchased 2 XM 10K bulbs from you guys on 12/29. I installed them the first week of January.

I've been really excited about them as they seem to have A LOT more PAR than the Ushios that they replaced. I find the color to be very white and a perfect compliment to my VHO actinics.

Here is the problem, about 2 weeks ago, one (only one) of the bulbs started to shift to a greenish hue. Pretty strange stuff. They are powered by 2 IceCap ballasts that I purchased from you guys. I really don't think these bulbs should color shift after 4 weeks of use.

Any ideas? Solutions?

Thanks!

Hi,

I first make sure that the nipple on the inner envelope is pointing upwards between the 10 and 2-o-clock position. May also be a good idea to swap out the two bulbs and see if having them on a different ballast will make a difference. If not, just email us or call us for a RMA number and we will be happy to take a look at it for you and see what we can do to get you a new one.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Joseph

Joseph,

Thanks for the quick reply. I already verified the nipple alignment which was at 10 before. I moved to to 12 just to see, but no change.

I was also thinking the same thing. I'll swap the two blubs tonight and eliminate the ballast variable.

I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks much!

She is our favorite as well. She gets fatter and fatter every day! She can eat mysis like you would not believe (and even the big PE mysis).

Marine Depot has great customer service. I just got notification of a UPS shipment. Looks like I have a replacement bulb on the way. Thanks guys!
