XM bulb wont fire

I just switched my bulb and the new one wont fire, its an XM 400 watt SE pn an M59 ballast, I know you have to let the bulbs cool before you refire it but should I let the ballast cool also? I see an arc of electricity in the tube but the whole thing wont light

Probably a bad bulb. Wait an hour or so and try it again, but my guess is that you need a new bulb. I would contact whoever you bought it from as soon as possible and ask for either a refund or a new bulb.

well the guy I got it from used it for 2 weeks and didnt like it, he wouldnt sell it to me if it didnt work, he is a real good guy. maybe it got damaged somehow
