Yasha Help

i have a yasha i just added to my 23g tank last tuesday.

he successfully found a burrow and for most of the last week and a half, he has been mellow, and quiet, i have observed him eating...

tonight, i heard him splashing away trying to jump through my triple layered netting (thank god i tripled) and he seems to have gone from that white with the orange colors to a white with very pale spots.....

is this perhaps a night time camo defense he does such as blennies? im worried he may be on his way out...

Give it time to get used to your tank. Mine was like that at first and would not eat. 8 months later, he has taken trips though overflows and my sump. IT's so comfortable it sleeps with my blue assessor.

Just make sure it's eating and you'll be fine.

ok, and the color thing? rather pale appearance last night, thought perhaps it was a night camo... normal?

Do you have it paired with a pistol? It's hard to see it in the video. I had one that was very skittish, might just be their nature. Mine took 2 weeks to settle in.

What other fish are in the tank, maybe someone's bothering him. After a year mine started jumping into the back chamber of the cube until I screened it off & then it ended up ditching the shrimp. I think it eventually jumped out even though I never found a body.

i have 2 clowns, a tailspot blenny, and a cleaner shrimp...

i have observed the yasha around the other fish and shrimp without any confrontations...

i have not seen the pistol i added the week before and i presume its hiding under one of the rocks, ofcourse in the back...

the yasha was in a burrow in the front, and has recently gone into ninja mode....

I wouldn't think any of the other fish would bother them. You may run into a problem with the clowns once they mature down the road. I had a tailspot w/ my yasha & later w/ the randall goby. My tailspot was really bold & actually swam down & bopped the randall on the head while he was sitting in front of the burrow lol.

Is it possible that with all the tunnels being constructed that your rock could've slipped if you have LR sitting on the sand instead of the bottom? Something might have spooked him.

I wonder if it's just the nature of the fish to be that way. I asked the LFS about them since mine lost his marbles after a year & was pretty much told that all gobies have loose screws lol. I find the randall to be much more bold than the yasha ever was.

Hang in there, hopefully he settles down. You could always go lights out & see if that helps.
