Yellow Belly Blue Tang Coloration Question

offshored

We have a small ~ 2" Yellow Belly Blue Tang in our 55 gallon holding tank while our 240 is finishing up.

I'm not sure about the Yellow Belly's coloration, but is it normal for them to have the area between their eye and mouth be "white/yellow" or washed out in color?

Sorry the picture is so bad, but our camera battery is dead and I used my phone. Also flash washed out it's color. It's a lot darker blue in color on it's upper half.

Thanks

To answer your original question, no. But it's color should improve as it gets accustomed to its new environment. Keep it well fed and you should be fine. I have seen stressed hepatus pale like that, they seem to have a lot of "pores" (probably not the right word) in that area and sometimes in fish that are malnourished they pale out.

I think I'll try to step up the nori a little more in that case. :)

Seems very healthy and happy, just it's face concerns me a bit.

I'd say water quality on that tank is average at best... just limping along for another few weeks until our 240 is cycled and ready to move livestock over
