yellow bubble tip anemone??

well, i did some searching on the site and didnt really come up with anything. a few bits of info here or there but nothing concrete. when going to a LFS i saw a tank full of yellow anemones that in a way looked like yellow carpets. but in the same tank i saw what apeared to be a bubble tip anemone. the tips very expanded and looked exatly like my GBTA i had in the past. this one was just completely yellow. pretty interesting looking to say the least.

my question is this. is there in fact a such thing as a completely yellow bubble tip anemone? if this is in fact a bubble tip i plan to buy it for my pair of clowns.

what is the best way to ID this as a bubble tip anemone? i would hate to buy this and my clowns not host it or it be a anemone i can not care for properly.

any help on this subject would be very helpful as i plan on buying this tomarrow.

thanks all for the quick help in advance!

a quick note, i did search on google and found a few interesting finds but alot of them seem to be skeptical that there is a such thing as a real yellow BTA. seems most say they are dyed or that it is not a BTA... this is where i figured i should ask others if this could infact be a yellow BTA and what you guys/gals think about this subject.

Yes they do exist, but you rarely see them for sale, and never in large numbers.

How much are they asking, they usually bring a high price ?

I would love to see more on the market as I think they are stunning.

I can't find the thread, but I saw an amazing picture of one on here this month. Said it goes for hundreds of dollars, and there is a long line waiting for splits

Were there variations at all in the color on the nem? It seems like dyed specimens have a more uniform color all the way from foot to mouth to tentacles. Pics would help lots though.

You're talking about (I for get whose) Lemondrop BTA.

On topic - yes, they do exist. They come in many colors, not just red and green, etc.

ok, i will try to get pictures as soon as i can. i think i may go ahead and buy it. if it ends up being the real deal then it will be a great addition to my tank and if not then im sure my clowns will still love it.

it is pretty darn yellow and the color seems to be pretty much the same from what i could see. i have not got a chance to see the foot yet but i will get the chance when i get it home tonight. once i pick it up i will take plenty of pictures to try and help get a positive ID.

Right now they hve it under some pretty crappy lights and it still seems pretty yellow. so i could only imagine what it will look like under some decent lights with some atinics.

as far as price i do believe they are only asking $50 or $60 for it and i dont think they know it is different then all the others.

It might have been this one (not mine BTW)

If it is entirely a uniform yellow, then it might be dyed. There are supposed to be slight variations and colored lines in the tentacles that give it the name Entacmaea quadricolor

NaClCrocodile is right, they do come in all sorts of colors; i'm buying a purple BTA from a local reefer for my baby maroon. I hope your prospect yellow BTA isn't dyed, it'd be awesome to get one for that low

well, i got to the LFS and another member off of reef central ended up buying it before i got back to the store. my buddy who works there sold it to him about 2 hours before i got there :(

the guy said he heard they had a yellow bubble tip and wanted to buy it. when my biddy asked him how he heard they had it, the guy said he read a thread on reef central about the yellow bubble tip and remembered seeing abunch of yellow anemones exactly the same as what i described in this thread. so he rushed up so he could get it before it was sold. so who ever got it hopefully will post up some pictures of it since i no longer can. guess thats what i get for not buying it without asking first

i did however buy a neon green with pink tip BTA while i was there. got tired of waiting around to find that perfect anemone. got some questions on it but i will start a new thread for them.

this anemone looked axactly like the ones above except it was 100% yellow from what i could see. so i guess it could have been dyed....

still not sure if the foot was a different color or not as i could not see it.
