Yellow Clown Goby

My tank has been up for almost 2 years now (9 gallon cube), and have really only ever had one fish...a six-line that I had for about 6 months until he kicked the bucket. That was about a year ago and I have been holding out for a Yellow Clown Goby ever since. After reading about them and seeing a post or two about them on this forum, I kind of thought it was the perfect choice for my situation. I haven't had any luck coming across one in a LFS, so I've just been fishless for the last year as I've waited to come across one.

I have an opportunity to have one ordered through a friend, and now I'm going through the doubt process of whether or not this is a good idea. I know they are great fish for a smaller tank, but is a 9-gallon too small? I'd love to have a fish again, but I'd be okay not getting one if it might not work out.

I have read up on YCGs, but does anyone have any experience keeping one in a smaller tank? Is there anything I should be concerned about or look out for? Bad habits? Food preferences? I have a couple hermits, a skunk cleaner, a pom-pom, and a porcelain crab. That's really about it. Mainly just an invert tank at this point. A few LPS and a handful of softies as well.

That bright yellow would really round out the color in my tank though, so my brain is doing its best to justify getting one. I still want to be responsible to my tank and the fish, though, so any guidance would be appreciated.

You should be ok with that tank size, just make sure it doesn't nip at your corals. I had one in a 30 cube and it got a taste for my digi

Good size tank. Is it covered? They will jump. Mine did mess with corals. My Adam became its favorite stop to hang out. It finally stopped hanging out there and it has taken months for the scan to recover.

Yep, it’s covered. Good to know.

I assume you were getting auto-corrected and we’re trying to type Acan, but I can’t be sure lol. Funny, too, because my name is Adam. Kind of freaked me out there for a second! I do have an acan that is recovering from practically dying when the cyano rolled through 4 months back, so hopefully that’s not where it decides to perch.
