Yellow Fiji leather help please

Hi everyone! I bought a yellow Fiji leather colony off a fellow reefer yesterday. I got it home, acclimated and placed in my tank about halfway down my 22 inch tank underneath 175w 15k XM and a 65w PC actinic. I noticed it had a tear on the stalk, just above where it's attached. Well overnight and throughout the day today the tear seems to be getting larger turning into a half inch hole now. It was in quite a bit of flow so I turned one powerhead off. My question is will it simply heal itself or is their something more I can do to help it along? Thanks
Darrell

Any pics? Does the hole/tear appear to be a different color than the rest of the coral? If it is off color (usually grey/brown/black) I would personally razor out about a 1/4 inch into healthy tissue and than give it plenty of water flow and light. I would also monitor the water quality and adjust via buffer addition and/or water changes if necessary.

NO it isn't dark at all, just a hole. It seems to have stopped getting bigger now since I turned off the one powerhead.

just give it time. that is the biggest thing in this hobby and i know i am one of those people too who want to try and do something more than give it a little time and patience. normally when you try and help you kill it. Of course who am i to say this lol! if the hole/tear seems to get bigger than you might need to do something. Who knows it may be doing you a favor and fragging itself!!!!!! wouldn't that be something.

Well, it seems the tear isn't getting any bigger at the moment. I turned the other powerhead back on and I'm pounding it with flow, it seems to be a little happier. I hope it survives.

Go easy with the flow you don't need to "pounding it" a gently flow all you need for now.
