yellow headed sleeper gobies

I posted about this in another forum but you guys always respond faster and better.

I bought 2 of these cuties for $10 each at Aquatic Visions :D ( I like the price, that's why I bought them ) and they are between 2-3". I was going to put them in different student tanks because I thought they weren't supposed to be kept together, but keep them in just 1 tank for a couple days. But NOW these guys are best buddies and are sharing a burrow together with their little heads side by side. Will they be compatible? Will they mate? They are so adorable and won't leave each other's side , so I don't want to split them up if they are happy.

Anyone know? I'd rather keep them together if they are happy.

most fish are happier with a mate. not all of course because alot of them roam around alone until mating. sleeper gobies are not loners for the most part and if you have a male and female I would surely keep them together just incase they might breed.
I am not sure what stock aquatic visions gets in these days but last time I was there they had mostly caribean animals. are these for sure sleeper gobies or is it possible they are pearly jawfish? I would think the later from them which are fish that I love. they hang with there heads creeping from thier burrow until they are confident they won't be eaten. sometimes hanging above the burrow but mostly don't stray too far unless digging another. 2 females may also share a home but normally not 2 males. $10 is again a great price for either fish. the goby will have a blue strip around it's eye area and a whitish body behind the yellow head. the pearly/ yellow head jawfish will have a blueish later half of his body. if it's a jawfish the male will normally have a fatter head. go figure on that one ;) hope this helps a little
I prefer the jawfish and would keep the yellow head sleeper goby out of a tank with corals on the sandbed or near it. they will cover them for sure and make an endless amount of work for you

you replied while I was typing. I am very glad to hear you say something is different with them hopefully it is for the better healthwise.

mysis shrimp and low water flow during feeding time will insure they get plenty to eat. they sometimes will only eat larger foods and die instead of eating 10 small pieces. unfortunately the yellow heads are the most common available around here and the last ones you want in a reef tank since they bury everything.

I'll take pics of them tomorrow. They like frozen brine. They aren't jawfish because I also bought 2 jawfish from them at the same price. One is at my house and one is at school. The jawfish are about my favorite fish. They are cool to watch!!
