yellow leather dead after one day

I purchased a yellow leather yesterday from a LFS which specializes in corals. Said they had had the frags for three months and they looked heathly.
Brought it home, drip acclimated it and placed it mid height in my 75 gal. under 4x65 PCs , and 1 , 10K florescent.
Came home today, it was completely collasped, almost no color, and was partially covered with a white film.
Even worse my pusling xenias had dissolved completely and my six line wrasse and banded coarl shrimp were dead.
Do leathers emit toxins when they die?
Any ideas?

maybe there was something else wrong with the tank....what are your water conditions like? xenia can be bad when it dies because it melts. Yellow leathers generally need higher lighting that other leathers and a lot of times pcs dont do it HTH

I would venture a guess that there was something array with your water parameters..

Post water test results. yellow leathers don't respond well to being moved. I bought 3 before I was able to keep one alive in my tank. You might also post a pic. If there is no dying material than you may be able to save it. My leaters go through extended perions of looking dead anly to return in a few days to full glory.

It is likely that it did not like something about your tank. As stated, check your parameters.

As well, your lighting isn't near enough for a yellow leather in my opinion. I would have never put it in that tank. They are the most demanding light wise of any leather that I know. At minimum very heavy T5 lighting or MH is required.

Leathers do give off a bunch of toxins, but nothing that would be strong enough to wipe out that many animals (of different types too) that quickly. As stated, get all of your water parameters checked out bfore you add anything else, and do a couple good sized water changes for sure.
Is this a newer tank?
