Check out some of the online stores for yellow scroll cup or Turbinaria corals. There are also some LE types, such as the 'Lakers scroll cup', which is purple with yellow polyps.
yes thats it turbinaria reniformis though it looks like its going to be expensive to get a bright yellow one like that.
i actually found some pictures of coral that looks just like that though it appears they were all taken in the red sea the ones not from red sea couldnt even compare to it. looks ike the frag hunt will start
barjam, how is the growth rate of your piece? I found it to be one of the slowest growing corals I've ever had. And if it was grumpy, it wasn't bright yellow. A beauty though for sure.
Yellow Monti Caps are pretty common here in Eastern US. My first SPS was/is one. It is yellow with blue polyps and a purple rim, very similar to the one above. I am a new SPS person so I haven't had a really perfect environment and it has proved to be very hardy and exceptionally fast growing. It does fade if the Calcium gets too high... or Alk low (really more because of the swing IMO). Mine is a little darker yellow than the picture above and the polyps are smaller and further apart. The purple rim doesn't really come out except under really specific lighting conditions. dark and blue. It normally looks like montis do when they are growing. white.
