Yellow spot on Orchid Dottyback

I have a young Orchid Dottyback in my QT at the moment and he appears to have a fungal infection. Is anyone able to help diagnose this and suggest the best treatment?

It has been in the QT for 10 days now, along with 2 Fire Gobys. The FGs appear fine, so I am planning to transfer them to the DT tomorrow morning and then treat the Dottyback to see if I can bring it back to good health. I have done this in the past with freshwater fish but this is the first time with saltwater.

Thanks in advance, Brad.

I'm not sure exactly what that could be but it might be bacterial. You can try treatment with cocktail of metroplex, furan2 and kanaplex for 10 days.

Thanks for the suggestion. For the moment I have isolated the Dottyback and treated with Seachem Cupramine. Will see how that goes in the next few days and take it from there.

Not sure if cupramine will do anything for you. It doesn't look like its caused by a parasite like ich or velvet.

Thanks for that. As the fish still seems reasonably well I thought I'd start with that. My next step will be KanaPlex I think. I am seeing some conflicting advice about treating this at the same time as Cupramine but overall it seems safe. The QT has good filtration.

Why would you treat it with copper?

That was just a starting point in case the root cause was a parasite, and the infection I saw came from that - figured that was a safe starting point. In Australia it turns out we don't have access to any of the antibiotic treatments - imports are blocked by our bio-security policy I believe. I am currently away for the week but am told the Dottyback is going ok. If it is not healing by itself sufficiently I'm then going to try MelaFix and possibly also add Voogle to boost the immune system.
