Yellow tang acting finnicky

My yellow tang is making speed bursts in my tank. There are no other tangs or larger fish. Time for a larger tank? Give him away?

If this is the 54 gallon you list in your sig, then yes, it's time for a much larger tank, or give it to a fellow hobbyist with a suitable system. You don't say how large the fish is but this behavior is indicative of their need for lots of lateral swimming room. My sense is the fish is cramped and it will eventually have problems associated with confinement stress.

He is actually a mid size tang 4 or 5 inches(not including tailfin), and he is in a 54 corner.

I also have 5 inch yellow tang. You need to put him in a larger tank. He is probably stressed. Even in my old 90 gallon, my yellow tang was slightly cramped.
