Sunday night (last night) noticed a yellow tang with a cloudy eye, and our clowns both had white spots (looked like ich)

This morning one Clown dead, other starting to slow down :(

Too late to go to LFS for any medication last night on a Sunday, but thats what im doing this afternoon.

planning on setting up an 8 Gallon QT, just curious if anyone has any medication suggestions.

Last night i put garlic with their food, clown spit out, Tang ate it right up.

*75 Gallon FOWLR

Based on the timeline, it is probably not ich; ich does not kill immediately but tends to overwhelm after multiple life cycles. Please describe the appearance and behavior. Garlic has no value in treating parasites.

Thanks. Forgot to mention, the "roommate" picked up a Goby and a Shrimp on Saturday Morning... gonna go ahead and assume maybe one of them brought it in.

Do you think 8 gallons is far too small of a QT?

For a yellow tang? How large? Probably.

Yes thanks for the help.

Guess ill go pick up some formalin and Chloroquine Diphsophate today

Found a 30 Gallon tank on Craigslist.

Welp. Everyones dead now, except for the firefish goby- who was brought in on saturday, & probably brought the disease with him.

I made a mistake by not putting him in a qt before the display tank.

Yesterday afternoon by lfs gave me coppersafe, which didnt seem to do anything

Question is- is the firefish goby immune? Why hasnt he shown any symptoms while 3 fish died within 48 hrs?

Not immune necessarily. About 5% of fish can develop temporary (six months) immunity but still carry the parasite. So sorry, but a good lesson learned.

Thanks for your insight. I suppose ill keep the goby in copper for 2-4 weeks then back into display.

Any other tips you have to offer?

If anyone else ever reads this - 2 weeks later the Goby is doing great. while in the QT tank, he was covered in white spots at one point. gave him a freshwater dip for 5 minutes, a day later, no spots. raised tank temperature to about 80 and mointered copper levels - now he is back in the display and doing great. mostly thanks to all of the help on this site
