Hello,
So I have done the research, so my question will hopefully not iritate anyone.
5 years experience, mainly with my 18g bowfront nano, learned alot and only had one fatality early on due to me mainly. Never had a fatality due to acclimating, so I feel my current solution works well, so fast forward to the last year, I have a larger 70g setup. Bought a Yellow tang and decided to take the plunge after about 4 months of research and waiting.
So I purchased a smaller Yellow Juvi, from a reputable LFS, He really stood out from the crowd. I acclimated him per my system for about 2 hours, he was placed in the new tank and immediatly started to eat all vege alge material," He must have been hungry" Feed him the last 2 nights and he is eating like a champ.
One issue was that when He was put in the tank, he made the mistake of trying to claim a cave next to my true perc's host/HQ. The clowns proceeded to show him that they were not having it. After about 20 minutes everyone calmed down and the clowns are now taking a liking to him and pretty much ignore his explring, "GOOD" so Last night I cam home and wow, White spot galore, "marine Ich, for sure", he was still eating like a champ, and my two clowns and royal grama, still looked unaffected.
I freaked out and grabbed my 18g rubbermain contained and began to setup a QT tank. I used a spare Korilla 1 pump thing for flow, 100w jager heater, HOB bio wheel, and an air pump with air stone for increased air. Let the tank cycle/heat-up/salt mix up. So I come home this morning and the temp is right and the salinity is spot on with my main, which recently has been on the low side on salinity, 1.021-1.022. I could not beleive my eyes and had to turn off my main lights, 50% of the spots are gone, he still has a few, but he is feeding like a pig still, a bit more skidishs of me coming in the room though. I'm sure that the ich was probably brought on by the aggression of my clowns during introduction, and the fact that tangs can be finicky and fragle.
So what do I do, do I pull him out and do the 72hr hyposalinity/3 week/ 72hrs salinity increase in the QT tank, or continue to feed him heavily in the main tank and avouid the stress of living alone in a 18g QT tank for a few weeks. I'm very worried about my other fish getting the Ich, as they are very healthy and are about 3.5 yrs old, but they are still very prone to developing the same issue. I'm torn right now, with my intuition telling me to somehow get him out and proceed with the QT process..

Please pardon the grammer issues!!!!!!
