Yellow tang harrassing mystery wrasse

Well my YT would not stop harassing my mystery wrasse and it got to the point today where I don't know if the mystery will live. He is breathing heavily and is just laying on the sand. I got the YT out and put him in my fuge area hoping that with the reduced stress the Mystery will make a come back. My question is would/if the mystery is ok would adding the yellow about a week after be ok? The yellow was put in there a couple weeks before so I'm assuming he already had his terrority. Any advice would be great.

Tank - standard 75 gallon

I'd keep him in the fuge for a solid two weeks and rearrange the rock in the DT after you have gotten the mystery healthy again. Then add a mirror when you at the YT back. Hit him with everything you've got!

My Mystery wrasse was in the DT first, added a Yellow tang and they get along fine. You could try that order and hopefully it works.

Thanks for the pointers! I'm assuming my mystery wrasse burrowed himself tonight after having to move all my rock etc to catch the yellow tang but if I don't see him tomorrow do you think I should move the rock to find him to make sure he is still alive?

If you caught the yellow tang just let him come out on his own. You saw him swimming as you were catching the tang right? Meaning, you didn't crush it right?

Damn he is dead :(, catching the YT just pushed him over the limit I guess. First thing I've lost in the hobby since I started a year ago.

Now with the YT do you think I should sell it? With him already showing the aggressiveness with the Mystery I think he will do it with any swimming fish I add if I put him back in. Would it be wise to just get another YT later on after all other fish have been added that I want?

Thanks again

Yes depending on what other fish you could possibly attempt another yt. Decide what you want first and we can try to evaluate your idea. All fish are different you may have just got a mean one.

Well I have a pair of clowns and a starry blenny w/o the YT right now. As far as future fish

Mystery Wrasse possibly
Mandarin

I wanted to do a school of 3 anthias possibly but I'm not so sure right now as I do not like the feeding requirements on them. I know 2 tangs in a 75 gallon would be really pushing it especially seeing how the YT already was.

Pair of Flashers

Kind of at a loss and have been browing LA lately trying to figure out another/2 more active swimmers I could possibly get. Open to suggestions as far as compatibility. Thanks

I would stick with the wrasses. The mystery or the pair could work. No to the mandarin since it needs pods and no way to 2 tangs in a 75.

I've had the fuge seeded with pods for past 2 months but I'm giving them time to keep reproducing before I attempt a mandarin. Are Blue hippo tangs more docile then the YT? Are they more prone to ich/disease then other tangs?

I think most recommend adding a YT last... for the above reason. Good local fish store will help you with the order to add fish....

Hippos are FAR less aggressive then Yellow Tangs. IMO yellows can be real jerks, my last tank had 4 tangs and the yellow was the only aggressive one. That being said your tank is not big enough for a hippo. Yes they are more prone to ich/disease, and would not do very well in a 75. I have my hippo in a 450 right now and he uses the WHOLE tank.

Yea figured he wouldn't do well in the 75, course I could buy one the size of the quarter but I don't want the headache of taking it out when its bigger lol nor do I want to deal with Ich.
