Yellow Tang w/ cloudy eye now eye gone...

I have a small YT for about 6 weeks now and about a week ago one of his eyes started to get cloudy. He was eating fine with cloudy eye, but I got nervous and moved him to my sump. After about a week in the sump his eye didn't get any better, but he stopped eating so I moved him back into the main tank again.

Now he is eating again, but the eye pretty much popped and now is a scap that looks like its about to completely fall off.

Wanted to see what I should do with him now if anything? Also, any thoughts on how the cloudy eye even started?

sounds like popeye.the fish can live with one eye but still needs some meds to take care of it.for the life of me i cant rember what to use.check with your lfs oa hopefully some else will chim in.when ever my fresh water fish got popeye i would so a water change and that would clear it up.i have never had any of my sw fish get it yet.

I had the same thing happen to my Yellow Tang. Poor thing lasted 2 weeks before i put it out of it's misery. Nemo was even picking at it's eye, yuck.

Where did you purchase it by the way?

exotic. bought 3 and 1 died, now this one.

That is so weird!!! I bought mine from Exotic too. It lasted about a good month. Strange.

Woke up this morning and my last 2 YT both croaked... The one with the missing eye was not a surprise, but the other one was eating well and active.

Going head back up there today and hopefully find out what went wrong

Thats crazy. I wonder how many YT have died from Exotic recently then. It's crazy that that happenned.

last night I did a water change, my nitrates were up to 20ppgm.

I'm going to do a 20% water change this week just in case.
