Yellow tang with black spots

My Yellow tang has small black spots all over its body and fins. There are about 50 of them in total. What is it and how is it treated. They were not there yesterday so whatever it is it is just starting to show up.Any info would help.

Do a search on "Black Ich" (you can also look up: Turbellarian - Paravortex). If this is the case, which would be evidence by small discreet black spots, you should be able to clear it up with FW or Formalin dips. There's an outside change the fish is affected with intermediate stages of digenean trematodes (which also causes a form of hypermelanization). Here's a link with some good photos: http://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=127010 (scroll 3/5 down).

I tried the search but it is currently down.Ill keep trying. It does look like one of the photos of black ick(top one of yellow tang) but no where near as bad. Thanks for the link.

I did a little bit of reading in a fish health bookunder black spot and it says that it could be a digenatic fluke.I did recently add a few snails which are part of the life cycle of these flukes. The life cycle goes like this....A bird eats an infected fish, eggs go back into the water in bird droppings, eggs hatch into free swimming larvae, larvae infect snail where the multiply and mature a bit more, then they seek out a fish to infect. If this is true the cycle will end without a bird in the loop and it should die off.Should I let it go and see what happens or should I do a dip of FW,Formalin, or possibly even metriphonate as it says in the book. The photo in the book does not really look like what I have tho.But it is hard to say.Any and all info will be great. Thanks in advance.
