Yellow tang with red dot for a couple weeks

My friends yellow tang had red streaks a while back but recovered well almost but I can still notice a light tint of orange on the top fin. But now along the top fin there seems to be a red bump which I am assuming its a bacterial infection. What were thoes antibotics that were mentioned before? And is there a big impact on using anti biotics with live rocks and sand? He also has a tube anemone, and will it hurt biological filtration? I told him to change more water, I hope that helps.

Using antibiotics within the show tank is not advised .. may kill off the "beneficial bacteria" which would place the tank back into a cycle.

Its common for minor bacterial infections to clear up on their own (just like in humans) .. however if conditions get worse then QT combined with antibiotics would help. Maracyn 2 is a readily available antibiotic which may help. You might checkout Seachem's website .. they market a number of stronger antibiotics but they may not be available at your LFS and you might have to purchase on-line.

Thanks for the info kevin. Oh I have a question about my own fish in Qt, I have a dwarf angel in a tank that developed white spots, but its not ich. The spots are only on its tail and its swimming fins, it is not on the body. It eats like crazy but its only got white specs on its tail and its swimming fins. Any idea what it is?
