Yellow tang with yellow long nosed butterfly

I have a 140 gallon reef tank with a yellow tang. Will there be aggression towards the butterfly because of similar colors. Will the body shape be too different for the tang to notice? Any one have the pair in their tanks now cohabitating? Oh yeah, tang has been established in the tank for years. Butterfly would be a new edition.

QT the BF and make sure it is eating well before trying to add it. You may also want to pull the tang out for a week to let the BF settle in.

The two fish can coexist in a tank despite the color. However, established yellow tangs may attack new additions to a tank.

As noted, get your yln butterfly eating well in a qt, then remove the tang and add the yln. Put the tang back in your dt after a week or two.

I have kept these two fish together many times over the years. I have kept multiple yellow tangs with the Long Nose without any issues.

I like smaller fish so my Yellows were never large sized and smaller than the butterfly.
