I just got alot of fish and corals from someone moving and one of the fish was a yellow tang. I never intended on getting any tangs for my tank an I need to know if they have a special diet. currently I feed my tank reef flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, or home grown brine shrimp. I mix it up. I also feed my tank some algae sheets pieces for some of the inverts.

They eat a varied diet; mix up the meaty foods and also use spirulina flake, algae sheets, even pellets. I have one now that eats anything I put in the tank, as well as grazes from the rocks and glass.

thanks, I fed flakes this morning and the tang was eating flakes so I guess he is accustom to eating anything. Need to get some pellets, keep forgetting at the pet stores, I'm sure the fish like the variety.

You might need to increase the amount of algae sheets (Nori) that you feed. Yellow tangs will need that in their diet.
