yellow watchman goby eye problem?

I bought a yellow watchman goby 4 days ago and he was doing pretty good,
but I have noticed he has white things on the top of his eyes. he has one on each eye and they are in different places on the eye, the left one is bigger than the right. I thought it was just sand but he has had it for 2 days. could this still be sand or is it something else? is it contagious to clownfish? and what can I do about it? I don't have a quarantine tank so I would have to feed it something like misis soaked in garlic but don't know if that would help. he hasn't eaten yet but i heard it can take up to 5 days before they will accept food. other than that he has been acting normal.

thanks

Thanks for the replies!
I ended up taking it to the LFS today where they are treating it, when I brought it in to my LFS the guy said it didn't look bad, so there might be hope,
the tank is 55 gallons
I bought the tank from a seller, he had it for over 2 yrs, and I got it about 4 months ago.
I have 1 foxface, 2 clowns
a gbta and
30 lb of live rock,

water parameters
ph 8.1
nitrite 0.0
nitrate 0.0
ammonia 0.0

yeah, I will get a QT.

thanks

Do you have a lot of algae or seaweed? 0 nitrates is suspicious in tanks that aren't planted. Could be your tank isn't fully cycled.
Just keep the tank very clean, it doesn't look like anything serious. Moving him to and from the LFS will stress him quite a lot and possibly make it worse. Also, the LFS is full of pathogens brought in by newly arriving fish, and stressing a fish by moving it makes it a prime target for infection.
