I have one that stays near the surface of the water most of the time. Very rarely does he go down to the sand. Has not tried to jump. yet.
He is eating ok. Really only eats mysis shrimp. He will try to eat new life spectrum but that stuff just passes out through his gills.
Is this normal for him to be hear the surface all the time?

It does not sound normal to me. It sounds like there is no place to hide or some other fish is on the bottom and it is scared to go down there. Are these possibilities?

nope not normal. i have a pair and ive moved them from one tank to another. they have made a den in the crushed coral under a rock both times. before the pair my first one was paired with a tiger pistol my son in-law has the now and have a series of tunnels. as posted above what other live stock is there.

I only have a pair of Clowns and a Blue/Green Chromis. It is a 75g. When I first put him in, he found a hiding spot under a rock but has not went back to that spot since.
None of the other fish pick on him. The sand is sugar fine and in some spots it is not very deep. He has been in the tank a lil over a week.

does he look healthy. i wouldnt think the sugar sand would prevent him from burrowing. ive never used it had black sand in a 50g before i moved my pair they never came out in the 50, now in the 75g there out and about often and its a crushed coral. maybe someone with more xp with watchmens will chime in.

yeah he looks healthy. Well as far as I can tell. His color is not as bright. But hopefully that will get better.
You ready for the big storm coming our way? I am really hoping this ice does not knock the power out because if it does I will not have to worry about the goby's health...

ready as ill ever be i guess. so far so good just rain but its right at that turning point. were at in ia are you?
