Yellow water

Hi there,

I'm pretty new around here so I hope I'm doing this right but I have a pretty big problem with my tank. The water is fairly yellow and cloudy. This happened once before and it cleared up with carbon, but it isn't seeming to help this time.

It's a 75 G fowlr with about 5 smaller fish, setup for about 6 months. 0 ammonia/nitrites/nitrates, 79 degrees, 1.022 sg, and I don't have the measurements for anything else. I have a pretty subpar protein skimmer on it too.

Any help would be appreciated, it's been a frustrating battle lol.

+1 on the H2O change... I would HIGHLY recommend doing that at least every two weeks, even with a FOWLR tank... And of course carbon, which we used in every tank when I worked a LFS that did tank maintenance...

Thanks for the input.

I typically switch out 15% every two weeks, but I'm prepping now for a big change (as fast as my RO unit can purify the water).

I put a new bag of carbon in last week and it only got worse actually.

If it got worse then remove the carbon...leave it out n continue to do 15% water change every two weeks. how about your lighting? Certain lights makes the water look yellow even though its not.

I have the Current Orbit Marine Pro LEDs but the water looks yellow even in my buckets when i take it out. I'll try to figure out how to upload a picture
