Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Yellowhead Butterflyfish. This is a moderate care level fish and is not recommended for the beginner aquarist. It has adapted well while in quarantine and is readily eating frozen mysis and spirulina brine shrimp as well as marine pellet food. Please contact us with any other questions or concerns.
I have been FW all my life and SW since 07.What is the main reason why these fish are not for begginers.Like some fish need optimal water and other fish are disease prone.I'm just trying to see what I have in store for me I decide to get it.
Thank you for your reply. The Yellowhead Butterflyfish is a delicate fish and is not reef safe. According to Scott Michaels book Angelfishes & Butterflyfishes, the Yellowhead has an aquarium suitability of 3 out of 5 as it can be difficult to get it to start eating in the home aquarium. If we can be of any additional assistance please feel free to contact us.
