Yellowtail blue damsel?

They are such nice looking fish, it's too bad they can come with an attitude! I was thinking I might add a small one as the last fish to my tank and that might help him not feel the need to take over. He'd be sharing a tank with clownfish, a fridmani dottyback, a grumpy watchman goby and a large wrasse. Any thoughts?

I see that TOTM has a long nose butterfly in his reef. When I read up on the fish it says add to reef with caution. Anyone else have this fish in a reef tank and not have problems with it eating coral?

I had one in my tank for many years and he never bothered anything. A model citizen so to speak. He was about the 3rd of 4th fish I added and since he was the smallest, that might have had something to do with his behavior.

I've had one and never had a problem with it, and it is not the last fish I added.
I paid $2 for it and it is always actively swimming around.
I hate it when I pay for $40-$50 fish that end up just hiding most of the time.

i've have a yellow tail damsel (also bought for about $2) and a clown in a 29-gallon and the clown is the bigger aggressor. the damsel has a spot in the tank with a hiding place in the rock and every day he sweeps out the sand in front of it. if he ventures too far away the clown chases him back to his spot. the damsel was the first fish i bought and was alone in the tank for about a year. the clown is now about twice the size of the damsel which probably decides who boses who around.

how safe it is depends on alot of factors you havent mentioned. the bigger the tank the better your chances of it not being a problem. also there are several damsels that are yellow tailed and blue bodied. if you are talking about a blue devil they are very aggressive. if you are talking about a C. parasema damsel i have 2 in my 300 now and they have never been agressive.

I have one in my reef and it tries to push the clowns around and they chase him away. I have found the Yellow tale are less aggressive of all the damsels and always had one. My six line wrasse chases the yellow tail around the tank. They are a good addition and cheap.

With the fish you have I think it will be fine. As mentioned before, this is one of the least aggresive damsels around.
Here is mine . he appears a deeper purplish blue in the tank normally but my flash always makes it look this color.

Beautiful fish kingfisher. I just added three of these to my 60 reef to add some color to my tank. Funny how a 4 dollar fish is the most colorful fish in my aquarium. Anyways I think you will be fine also.

I used to have three of these cuties, sadly lost in a non-quarantining mis-adventure, and they were great. I added them first, and although they occasionally squabbled amongst themselves, they never bothered anyone else I added, and I had only peaceful fish.
