I had a small frogspawn frag in my 12 gal nano, and was doing GREAT. Today I get home from work today and its gone, totally gone. I have some zoa's, Ric's, polyps, candycanes, and some other misc. mushrooms in the tank and everything else is doing awesome. This frogspawn is just totally gone down to the nub. The only live stock in the tank is, 1 Yellow tailed blue damsel, 1 Green Mandarin goby, and 2 Peppermint shrimp, misc snails and a couple blue legs and red leg crabs. I have another very, very small frag that has a super small frogspawn on it and its still fine. Did something eat this thing or what? Please help me find the murder so I can get it out of the tank. Thanks in advance.

brown jelly infection. i had frogs and a torch. we got a new hammer (here comes the qt lesson) and it went from healthy to brown jelly to completely gone in 18 hours. since i had never seen it before, i waited until it was gone, then pulled it out.

symptom: STINKS!

well, too late--the torch was gone in another 24, and over the last two weeks we've cut off 7 heads of frog.

i think we have four now that look healthy and are ready to go back in the tank.

is/was it your only euphyllia? siphon off any stuff near the head, then pull it out. smell it. throw it away.

sorry...

peppermints can be known to eat certain LPS... ive seen mine pick on my frogspawn but they didnt totally decimate it and stopped doing it after i fed them more. they are closly watched now though and will be removed if they kill any corals.

I have heard once before of peppermints picking at frogspawns, but mine doesn't. It will try to steal food from the frogspawn, however. I appease him with a Formula 1 pellet every day to make sure it's happy.
