I bet these kind of threads get pretty old

I first noticed it when it was around 1/8 of an inch and has since grown to about 3/8 inch. It has a white crown, almost like a feather duster but very short.

I wasnt concerned at first i thought i might just be a tunicate or something of that sort but now that 3 other ones have suddenly popped up around i am concerned i need to stop the spread.

It's a small calcareous sponge. They're harmless and their population will wax and wane as the tank matures and nutrient levels settle down.

Sponge, reef safe, it will even help with water quality from what I understand (filtering). Nothing to be worried about though. I have them in my tank too.

I had them 10 years ago but I don't see anymore. They are fine though. Actually I've seen them in my sump, I guess they like to filter the water as it passes by.
