Well I finally have salt water in my tank . I can't run my skimmer because , I have a problem with two of the pumps leaking by the front cover . It still feels great to see salt water in the tank again. I wonder how long it will take to cycle this time . I wonder if I replace the O-Rings in the impeller covers , if that will stop the leaks . Can anyone give me an answer to this problem ?

I think I will probably have to go with a synthetic salt . The price of gas is killing me . Ted

Have you compared the price of using a salt mix (salt+ro/di water+gas to go get it/shipping to get it) versus boat gas? I have never "run the numbers" and was just curious if there is a big cost advantage one way or the other.

Jim , I haven't done that , but I know I have to go out further to get clean water, then people south of me . I can go out 5 miles , and be in only 6 ' of water . If I'm in 12 ' of water I can't see the Hernando Beach Water Tower , which is the last thing to disappear over the horizon . Ted

Tank looks great. Really like the rockwork. What lighting did you end up going with? Looks like there is a different light on the left side of the tank versus the right?

Jim , Thanks for the kind words. I am trying different types of lighting , to see what will work best (for me ) . money is a big issue , with the tank now . The things that aquarium suppliers offer , as you well know is not the only things that will work . Anything that is related to a hobby seems to come with a high price . Tha poor LFS guy isn't making much money , because there isn't much of a mark up . They have to stay competitive to stay alive . Most people would be shocked if then knew how little the make on a sale . The dollar is so weak now if you get anything from Europe , it is going to cost you double . This is just my opinion , ade I don't want to offend anyone . Ted

I don't know if it would work / fit in your setup, but you are welcome to mess around with this 36" T-5 fixture I have that I am not using. One of the two ballasts in it has a mind of its own (works sometimes for months on end, then will not fire for a week or so?). But I have no plans for it - I didn't even think to offer it to you when you were here. If you want to try it, I can bring it up later this month when I finally can shake free and come see you.
