So, got a large Fiji Yellow Leather from liveaquaria yesterday in some very foul water yesterday.

three pics. In bag water, out of the bag in the dip(looks like someone sat on it), after the whole day in tank did not inflate one bit(sorry for the pic, running blue only for the first day)...

I'll let everyone know how it fared in a few days, is it normal for a large leather to expel this much muck in shipping?

hard to tell from the pics, but those are hard to kill. give it time. it may take a few weeks. start it on the sand bed and gradually move it up. they like a lot of light. mine went from bright yellow to more of a tan because if I turn up my lights it will be too much for the other coral.

Still share it with Live Aquaria so they have it documented in case it doesn't make it. That's not supposed to be like that and regardless of leathers being hard to kill or not, it could happen and that one doesn't look so hot. I do wish you luck with it's speedy recovery!

Oh yes, I sent them an e-mail last night. Also to document the dartfish that came in lethargic.

If this is actually a 5-7 inch leather I will be surprised, I have seen leather shrink up before but not like this. Hopefully it realizes it is not sitting in sewage any more.

It is the same this morning. I suppose that is a good thing, the darker spots have not gone necrotic at least. Wish it would just show a bit of inflation though.

He melted while I was away for thanksgiving. Wet skimming and new carbon time.

LA has not returned my e-mail to my surprise. I'll send a new one.

Just curious if LA took care of your problem? Sorry to hear about it not making it,that water did look terribly foul!! SR

They reshipped, at their expense, but only the fish made it out. They ran out of the large leathers. (I would have to assume they prioritize regular orders over re-ships)

Not many of our venders will ship replacements without charging shipping though so I am not complaining.

And you think it looked foul? You should have smelled it!

Well at least they tried I guess, still a bummer but I guess shipping such delicate things something is bound to happen...I Bet opening that bag smelled pretty ripe! Haha SR:lmao:

Forgot about this, they did get them back instock and shipped another one. Nice and healthy showing polyps on the second day. Just have to move him up to some heavy flow.

It is not done shedding yet and needs to color up a bit.
