Hey guys. I was just curious to what you guys think about skunk cleaners in the same tank as clams?.

One of my skunk cleaners starting eating part of the mantle of my squamosa. It didn't do too much damage and seems to have stopped this behavior. I was just about to bring it back. It now seems to be leaving it alone. The other one never bothered it so i guess the odd one can cause some problems.

quote from Bob Fenner:
"Yes, some cleaner shrimps will take to consuming captive clams... especially if they're not offered much else to eat."

The shrimps will generally leave them alone and pick at them from time to time, however, if it's a dying clam, they will go at it even before it's dead. Also, make sure the byssal opening is never exposed though, I've first hand witnessed a shrimp reaching in there and killing my clam instantly.

I have never had a problem with my cleaner and my clams. The shrimp does walk on the Squamosa sometimes, but it doesnt seem to care to much.
