Along those lines you could add that you try to put as little epidermis as possible in the tank, and leave it alone only to interfere when absolutely necessary.

And as an aside, you can tell someone (ideally too young to know) that their epidermis is showing (and roughly point somewhere) and see how they react.

I let red flatworms run rampant in my skimmer-less nano.

Every bi-monthly water change I just suck up as many of them as I can see with airline tubing... Easy nutrient export!

I never have an algae problem and all the corals (mixed reef) in that tank grow like crazy!
