Young clown tang pictures

My little baby clown tang is growing up fast. He was barely over an inch in size when I first got him, one of the if not the smallest clown tang I've ever seen. Since then he has at least doubled his size. He was quite a bit smaller than my 2" fiji devil damsel and now he is as long as the damsel and quite a bit taller, although not as fat. Definitely growing like a weed though, this will end up being the fish that I have to expand my tank to match I think. Fine by me :)

Anyway, here are some pictures I took tonight.

Here's some more I took a couple minutes later with my flash during feeding time. The fish all zip around so fast during feeding you have to use a flash to get anywhere near close to a clear picture.

you got a dirty spot on the glass.... jk man.

nice pics!
Yeah, you really find out how dirty the glass is when you use a flash :)

That's cool man! I almost bought a tiny clown tang like yours as well. Love the pic of him eating nori.
Thanks. The little clown tangs are great, I really like this fish. I'd definitely recommend buying them small if you do, they grow very fast.

I really like the nori eating picture too. Even with good gear, that was a pretty hard photo to capture. They take bites so fast.

Very nice.
Thanks!

My Clown tang was also very small when I got it. For a long time it was the kid that got knocked around by everybody. Now it's the second largest fish in the tank, and crazy. SUPER fast. I wouldn't doubt if it's the first fish that gives you a problem with outward aggression. I've been seriously considering throwing mine in with the Queen trigger. Not as punishment, I don't do that, but I think the Clown tang has a good chance. Beautiful but crazy fish.

they are fery common fish on our coast line, we tend to leave them alone as when they get bigger they are devil incarnate, one needs a reallly large tank to house them.

I wondered about that when I saw your tank, I was thinking an aggressive tang would be good in there with the queen. Although she has been dominant so long it might be quite a big mistake.

Maybe separate the tank with double thickness eggcrate and see if she attacks through the crate or not, and give the tang some time to get used to the tank.

Yeah, right now my tank is not large enough to house a clown tang long term, but I have the means and the room to buy bigger and bigger tanks as time goes on, I plan on growing with the fish instead of buying a huge tank and having it be pretty much empty for years until the fish hit adult size.
