Your Crosshatch Triggers and Tank Size?

I have been thinking of getting a pair of Crosshatch Triggers. It got me to thinking of those of you that already have a pair of Crosshatchs. What size tank do you have them in? What are the size of your triggers? My tank is a 210, 72" x 24" 29". I am concerned with the visual appeal of an 8" or 9" fish in the tank. Also could post a pic of your Crosshatchs in your tank? Your response would be greatly appreciated.

I have a recent pair of crosshatches in my 120 currently (hopefully SOON going into a 220). My pair is small (male 5-6", and female approx 4"), but the male is near constantly swimming. Luckily, I have very little rock, and what rock I have, is in a very open structure, so there is plenty of room to swim. I keep my SPS trimmed way down, so the top 1/2 to 2/3 of the tank is open water. I also have very few busy tank occupant. The largest are a square anthias and a juvenile chevron tang, but they are more reef and rock fish, although they freely come to the open with the triggers. A word of advice- it took all of about 2 days for the male to destroy 7 chromis. He doesn't bother the mandarin or clowns, but hunted and wrecked my chromis group.

I would think your tank size would be fine, provided you do not have it pack with rock and coral. My fish, at least seem to greatly prefer swimming in the open water. While the female is a bit shy, I have yet to see either dart to or through a hole in the rocks, just gracefully cruising above them.

I will try to get a pic up, but I am having difficulties.

I had a pair in my 360 and they looked too big. The male was about 10" and the female about 7", they were both extra thick. I ended up selling them to a local with 1000gal tank. These fish need a very large tank IMO. Heres some pics of mine.

Thanks for the input you all have provided so far. I conducted alittle experiment this evening and determined that a Crosshatch pair would fit my eye in my tank. I found a nice side shot of a Crosshatch and blew it up to 6" and 7". I then cut them out and taped them to the front of the tank. That made it very clear to me that they would look nice in the tank.

That is a very clever idea, one that I will steal from you (borrow?) and use for similar situations on my large tank. How do you like the Deltec skimmer?

I love the Deltec. I am about to upgrade to a larger one, AP702, when I get the Crosshatches. I want to have a safe working margin for the bioload on my tank.

The Dallas World Aquarium has some Leafy Seadragons. They are absolutely beautiful and peaceful to watch. I used to use a pic I took of one as my avatar until I changed over to a pic of a Blueline angel I just sold.

That is a male Leafy photographed near Kangaroo Island just south of Australia. Not enough detail to see, but he is carrying eggs.
