Your return Pump!!

Yup, wow, that's sweet. The sequence only uses 108w. l was looking for an external as well. This one does 2500 GPH just perfect for my tank. How's your experience with it? does it last long?

why would you get a smaller impeller? Your using the power of the big pump but only pushing the water of the small pump, seems like your paying for something that your not getting.

There are many good external brands. Sequence, panworld, velocity... I've even ran eheims externally with great success. But for a return pump on a 170 you can get by with anything from about 600gph-1000gph. Certainly don't need 2500gph going through a sump;)

If that question was directed at my post, the 1262 is just that, the return from my sump.
I have a Dolphin Ampmaster 4000 running on a closed loop for flow.

It depends on what you are looking for. I have an Iwaki 100 but it's pumping back up stairs, why feeding a large frag tank, a fuge, Phosphate reactor and skimmer.

IMO, the eheim pumps are underrated. My 1262 handles the ~5 feet of head very easily also. I've used a Quiet one 4000 (rated to 1000gph) on the same setup, and noticed little if no difference in output.

This is basically where I am in the decision process as well.

I don't know if I want to do internal or external for my return pump on my 180 gallon.

Are the sequence pumps very quiet? The tank is in my bedroom.
