your rig for taking topdown photos

how do you hold your camera still to take top down photos? is there a tripod extension?

my tank is only about 4.5' high so I can use my tripod with the center column rotated horizontally. I have about 6" to spare with it at max height.

I do know manfrotto has a whole line of clamps and brackets.
