You can keep fish and corals in a white polystyrene 5g paint bucket from Lowes, if you can keep water filtered iwth carbon while tank sets up. I agree: toss the sand, or wash it throughly in discard salt water and strain it in your fingers as you transfer.
Not a bad deal, but you'll want a HOB downflow to a sump (about 200.00 if bought) and a skimmer for your sump, another 2-300.00. Knowing you face those extra costs, if you can spring for it, it's not a bad deal. You're just getting into the 90 category, which is a good-sized tank, and would cost you about 4-5000 if you wanted to start from scratch with a predrilled tank, etc, rock, et al.
