I will soon be looking for a source for liverock. I saw Justin's thread where he used Yourreef's LR and it looked pretty good. Have others had good experiences with the quality of his LR?

Thanks!

If you are looking for rock for your 300G tank, you might want to check online. It would be much cheaper.

Exotic has some really nice rock too..

I got some of my rock from Yourreef.com as well. Very nice looking rock. The only problem with buying rock online is that you don't get to cherry pick the pieces.

I have also seen some nice rock from Paradise Aquarium (?). Haven't checked out Exotic. O st has your standard live rock - nothing spectacular.

Keep me posted on what you find, I will be look for some pieces soon also......I think I am going to look for a few larger center pieces rather than a bunch stacked smaller ones.

I haven't been to Exotic in a long time, might check them out one of these weekends. I thought about doing the online thing, like Premium Aquatics or the aquacultured stuff from Tampa Bay Saltwater. The thing is, I am not sure how much rock I will end up using since I want to keep it fairly open with some larger sandy areas. I will probably start out with maybe 200-300 pounds and go from there, maybe from John's store.
The nearest store to me is Aqualife, they sell LR as well, but I haven't looked at it that closely yet.

johns stuff he has now is fresh, He had alot of cured LR that he was holding at his house for a while, so it ended up being cured. I went there the other day he has some good rock pieces right now, along with some Tonga branch rock.

I have a lot of luck with Live Aquaria. They sell nice rock at a good price. If you buy alot, I suggest you talk to LFS to see if they can give you a special price.

Got two big pieces form John at Your Reef about three months ago. Great stuff. Even got two sweet hitch hikers. Palythoa and a monti sp?. Both grew from nowhere. :) Just got lucky.

yourreef is pretty good. If you were to buy it from there.. my advice is to go pick the rocks yourself. I ordered them online and had them shipped ...I got some pretty nice pieces.. but then I got some pieces that were pretty stupid...

I just visited exotics for the first time and I must say wow. Granted they were still in progress with the place.. Exotics is insane for a LFS. They have pretty decent LR there. I don't quite remember the price though..

I think I will probably go with Yourreef's stuff and get about 300lbs once I get my stand (the only thing I am still waiting on) and get everything put together and leak tested.
One more question: if you were going to cure that much rock in a tank, would you wait to put in the substrate so you can more easily siphon stuff off, or just put it all in together and just let it cycle? I never bought uncured rock before, but in this case it would be another several hundred dollars to buy already cured rock...
thanks again for your help!
