YT with baterial infection? Pics...

Hi Jeff,
how long have you had this fish and how long has it looked like that?
I am not sure that is a Bacterial infection. It looks like it could possibily be black ich.
Black ich is caused by a worm (Turbellaria).
Tangs seem to be the ones that get it (any fish can contract it though).
Can you take an up close picture? It looks like a dusting on your fish and from what I have seen black ich looks more defined, but he could have a bad case?

I've had him for a year and a half now. He's looked like this for maybe 1 week now, progressivly worse. Since I had thought it was the red streak bacterial infection, I've been doing water changes more often as suggest by the stickied thread here. And those pictures are about as close as I can get with my horrible camera. In person it looks more like a reddish/black dusting than defined black spots.

Hum, well Zebrasoma tangs are the tangs (yellow ones) that turbellarian worms infect.
In 1 week is fast for him to look so infected with something. Brooke would produce more slime coat. Is he still eating well? and beathing has been normal?
where did you first notice this? Did it start at his gills move down the body? Start somewhere else? Or just kinda show up all at once?

It seemed like it showed up pretty quickly. He has been eating just as usual. I did just give him a FW Dip, and dropped a couple flakes in the QT tank, but I think he's mad at me for the dip and the 10 Gal QT tank, but that's what I've got to work with. Breathing doesn't seems much faster than usual either.

When did you do the FW dip, like just a bit ago? Did you notice anything different after?
Problem is FW dips aren't bad but IMO really don't cure stuff but can help. How long did you leave him in there?
So, if not tub infection then I can think of Amyloodinium aka velvet which might be something?

He didn't seem too stressed during the dip, but after returning him to the QT tank he sort of just laid around. I ran to Lowes and just got back to find that my friend has passed 
I'd really like to find out what this was just to keep an eye out on my other fish.
I'm really starting to wonder though. I fitted my 20gal tank with baffles 3 weeks ago, I learned last night of the mistake I had made of using GE Silicone II with the Bio-Seal mold inhibitor. I pulled my fuge this morning and threw on an old bio-wheel filter until I can get it cleaned up and use the new Dap Aquarium grade silicone I just got from Lowes.
I lost a Royal Gramma Baslet last week, I only had him 8 days... when I tested the water nothing was out of the ordinary, and now my YT of 1.5 years with no issues suddenly gets sick and dies. I'm wondering if it was the GE Silicone II that may have caused this? I'm going to do a hefty water change and hope that prevent any further loss.
I'd really like to find out what this was just to keep an eye out on my other fish. I'm really starting to wonder though. Maybe he did have velvet. It does cause death and comes on pretty fast.
Was the Royal Gramma Baslet new? Like you just got him the 8 days befor he died? If he was and since he died that could be the start of a problem especially since the the YT had been fine and happy for over a year.
I would do a big WC too and some carbon.. I am not familar with that prodcut but it can't hurt to be on the safe side.
But in reality judging from those pictures he had something..

I am wiling to bet, even though the Royal looked fine he had something that transfer to your YT.
There really would be no reason for the YT to get something and die after having him healthy for a long time, however, with the addition of the new fish, then the disease and death that is probably the case.
