Lil baby sand shark
I have a yuma mushroom that used to be really big and now it is slowly shrinking. All perameters are on point, and there are other yumas, ricordia, and rhidactus in the tank that are thriving. I use peroxide to dip my zoas and that works really well for me. Could I use peroxide to dip the yuma? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I use it to kill pest and fungus on zoas and palys. I've herd of people using it to treat algae issues as well, but it kills healthy bacteria too. So you have to reintroduce a bacteria supplement if you dose the tank.

just a random thought but is it in a spot that is getting more flow than the other shrooms... maybe a deflected current from a rock?? I have noticed mine in the past close up if they get too much flow!

I've read shrinking has to do with lighting. Some people say its because it needs more other people say it needs less and one site said it has to do with spectrum, not amount of light.
I've lost every yellow Yuma I've had to this shrinking phenomenon. I've tried a variety of approaches and nothing has worked for me. I hope you have better luck. I sincerely hope aquarists get this problem figured out.

Someone in another thread suggested that yumas are dying of an infection, and suggested a broad spectrum antibiotic like Cipro. I have a theory that they are starving, and perhaps they need more aminos. But it's a known problem, that many wild collected yumas do not survive in our tanks for very long. Usually they start melting a few weeks after arrival and acclimation.

Yep. Bacterial Infection. No known cure at this point. You will start to see a brown stringy substance coming out of it's mouth next then you will notice that there is a hole right thru the mouth down to the base it is on. The hole will expand as it deteriorates and then you'll see it turn into a white gooey blob and eventually the Yuma will let go and float away. It literally will go from blob to nothing in a day or two.

I dont know if it is contagious or not but I would qt it if possible.

I also got a yuma from Reefpoolza been doing great all sudden couple days ago its started looking weird lost most of it color and this brownish/green stuff is coming out of it mouth and it shrinking. Could I use coral Revive on it? or is it to gone.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I have had this yuma for a couple years with no problems and all of a sudden it just melts. I will think twice again before I get another expensive shroom.

i put my red yumas under the frag rack. I've had them for 3 months already and so far so good. In the past I had them in the open and they just slowly fall apart. I heard that yumas don't like strong lighting. I remembered a long time ago I went to visit atlantis aquarium in the bay area and i've seen the biggest red yuma in my life and it was out in the open under halide but kind of mounted side ways on a rock. He had 2 or 3 yumas about 4-5" diameter.
