ZC's clownfish breeding thread

Good luck selling all of them! Do you plan for retail, or wholesale, or what? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, thinking of doing the same thing myself soon. Thanks for all your answers, and good luck! :)

Umm, neither? I plan on selling to fellow hobbiest, but currently I don't plan on making a business out of it, lol. :P

8 days old! Only one loss in the past few days. :)

Note: Heavily edited the contrast/levels of these pics so you can actually see the shape of the babies. They're actually starting to look like little fish!

Kim, your doing great....

Kim, your doing great....

Kim,

Your doing a great job....Now that the holidays are over I will PM you more often...I apologize for the delay....This is a great thread for everyone....Oh, and I definately agree with Kim....Clownfishs By Joyce D. Wilkerson is definately worth the money if you plan on trying to breed...I also recommend The Complete Breeders Guide To Marine Aquarium Fishes By Matthew L. Wittenrich.

Thanks man. :)

It's day... what, 14? And still no meta. They are growing quickly and are strong and healthy, but I want them to look like clownfish already! My otohime A came in yesterday so I'm feeding that to them while placing a few rots in the tank, but not much. The babies attack the otohime voraciously so hopefully this will beef them up and help them hit meta soon!

Dude, very impressed with the first time go! I'm stoked to see how this pans out. Couldn't tell you how important and beneficial all the pics are that you are provided, and I am sure I am not alone when I say thank you for the effort you are putting into the thread. I know most of your efforts go to the breeding job, but definitely impressed with equal effort for us goonies, lol.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! Hopefully someone wanting to breed clownfish will glean some information from this thread and I plan on continuing to post about my experiences here. I should have my snowflake/b&w pair very soon and can't wait for them to start spawning for me!

When your transferred the eggs from the tank to the breeding tank did your keep them underwater ? so gravity dint crush them while moving ?

ian

Hi Ian, no the pot was completely empty of water while I moved them to the hatching tank. Gravity is not a problem, and drying out from air isn't either unless they are exposed for more than a few minutes.

First I would like to say thank you for posting this for the rest of us to see.I was wondering if you had all that rock in your fry tank from the start? Also were did you get your otohime from? Thanks and alot more questions to come.
Daniel

Thanks. :)
The rock was not in the tank from the beginning. I only just added it over the past few days. Another breeder told me that you can add LR to the hatching tank from the first day in order to help with biological filtration so I may do that next time!
And the otohime was purchased from Reed Mariculture.
All questions are welcome!

Thanks for the fast reply. What did you feed your rots-nanno or roti-grow?Also did you have to buy a 1kg bag or was there a smaller amount you purchased?
Daniel

You can get the starter pack you might use c2 but ep1 and ep2 you will have to grind down as they look like koi pellets.
