Zeovit Sponge Power, now I'm a believer

So I recently had been reading a great deal about zeovit and the entire line of products and I'd always been skeptical of the snake oil in the blue bottles that don't list the ingredients, but there were far too many success stories with zeovit users that I had to give them a shot to see what all the fuss was about.

I decided to continue dosing my DIY NoPOx solution of 60% vinegar 40% vodka dosed via dosing pump, 18 ml per day into my 150 mixed reef. This has gotten my nitrates down to around 2 to 4 ppm depending on the day. My Phosphates have hovered around .08 to .10 and I don't run any sort of phosphate media.

So I decided not to use the zeolite rocks or reactor and just dose some basic additives. I started with Coral Vitalizer, Sponge Power, Pohls Extra Special and Trace Elements. I received my shipment on Friday, dosed the vitalizer and sponge power 4 drops of each, then continued to dose 3 drops each saturday and sunday. I tested my water for fun last night and I was shocked at the results.

To begin, the sponge power is supposed to stimulate filter feeding animals in the tank, like sponges, tunicates, sea squirts, and clams. The notes say the water clarity will increase, etc. I can say that after only 2.5 days of dosing sponge power, this is 100% true. Not only that, but my phosphates dropped from .10 to ZERO. I tested the water 3 times last night to confirm zero phosphates with my Hanna Checker. I haven't changed anything in my tank other than changing filter socks when they are clogged. This truly shocked me. I'll continue to dose sponge power, I do have quite a bit of white sponges on/in my rocks so this must have woken them up and kicked them into high gear.

I'm going to dose 1/2 the amount of coral vitizlizer this week just to make sure I don't over dose it. My SPS Polyp Extension is much better. This isn't a fluke, I really believe this stuff works. I've since ordered the Amino Acids, K-Balance strong and Potassium/Iodine/Flouride supplement as well. I'm excited to see the results of everything.

Sounds interesting. Like most others, I've never been able to keep the colorful sponges long term, although I have plenty of white sponges growing under my rocks. I've always wondered if the sponge power product would make keeping them possible.

When adding all those different products, I'd be vigilant on keeping an eye on nutrient levels.

That's what I'm doing. I'm doing every other day on each so only dosing 1 product per day. So far the nutrients have gone down so I'm excited. I would love to see if people with really colorful sponges ever used this product as well with success.

I switched to ZEOvit and I have to say, I am totally sold. Each week I have seen improvements and have also purchased another bottle of what seems would be beneficial to my tank. Happy customer.

Zeovit is a system designed in Europe (so you know it will be complex & expensive) where the water is basically stripped clean of nutrients and a series of compounds in bottles are added to keep the corals alive - Amino acids, vitamins, trace elements and so on.

Some of the zeo tanks show beautiful colors, often in brighter pastel hues than the same coral would display in a conventional system. It's the absolute opposite of the "all natural" way of reef keeping.

Some people use bits & pieces of the system for a specific purpose, like Sponge Power.

I've read a bit about this stuff and am starting to believe it might just be worth buying. The large bottle of the Sponge Power is $40 or what they call a nano power set of 4 different formulas. The good thing is that you only need one drop per 25 gals of water volume, so it's actually pretty cheap to use. The results are amazing in the videos and pictures that I've seen. I've got a few upgrades to do on my 40 and first is getting new lights because my 24" T5 isn't enough light for my 40b, it was fine for the 20 long that I had before.

I do thing this is worth a try and I'll be doing so in the next few months.

Think I'll do this kit of 4 different 10 ml bottles seems to be a good choice at $49

Coral Vitalizer
High quality nourishment for corals. This is the most balanced coral food and will not add phosphate or nitrates to your water. Visible reaction can be seen within minutes upon addition to the reef. Noticeable improvements to color, polyp extension and overall health will be peak within ten days.

Phol's Xtra
A supplemental additive that significantly improves growth, color, and vibrancy of corals. Routine dosing of Phol's Xtra will have long term benefits that also include improved water clarity, increased robustness and coral health.

Amino Acid Concentrate LPS
A revised blend of amino acids formulated specifically to target the needs of LPS and soft corals. Regular use will result in increased color, vitality and growth.

Sponge Power
Sponge power is a specially formulated food for sponges, bivalves and tunicates. Routine dosing will enhance the growth of these animals, which will have a net effect of supporting their water filtering characteristics and thus improve water quality significantly. Additional benefits include longer growth tips in SPS corals, enhanced colors and improved coral tissue damage recovery. LPS and soft coral improvements have also been reported by many. These include additional tissue growth, polyp expansion and coloration.

Fluval Trace Elements lists copper also but it's hardly detectable. I think they must have a reason for it to be in there I just don't know what that reason is. Anybody????

I use the Fluval trace elements and have had no problems with it having traces of copper in it. All my inverts are fine and never had an issue with it. Sooooo I'd say its safe levels all the way around. I do know that Zeovit has a great reputation and if this was an issue you would wind it easily when Googling them.

Why bother with a doser when all you have to do is two drops per 50 gal of water? So the day's you're not around it doesn't get it's two or three drops :lmao:

Well I just bought that kit for my 180, it wonts last very long being 10 ml is around 120 drops but I will hopefully see a good result.

Zeo heads are typically running SPS dominant tanks- keep that in mind. Allot of supplements out there including the infamous two part ESV lists copper with its other trace elements. From what I understand its small amounts and not chelated.

After using Zeo for 3 weeks now my polyp extension is crazy. Never seen anything like it. The only thing that I didn't like is that the aminos contain some Nitrate so I saw my numbers go up a bit. No problem, stopped dosing until trates are under 2 ppm. Everything else is working great.

The sponge power would be useful in any tank. Anytime I see my phosphate rise (I don't run any media to remove phos) I dose a full 5 drops a day until it drops.

Cooper is essential for corals (and all other life).

Adding supplements to your tank that have a very minuscule amounts of Cooper is likely more beneficial than not.
