Zeovits Flatworm Stop.... Your Experience?

Reef1589

Anemones for life
So sadly, I found a batch of AEFW's in my system...

ive been doing the bayer dip for awhile... and just stressing stuff out, and then I heard about this, and thought id give it shot..

im two days in, and my corals look worse than ever...
ive actually lost 2 colonies along with a newly acquired Red Dragon frag, and my ORA german blue polyp isn't looking too hot, nore is my Vivid's Rainbow delight frag...

Normally my Phosphates are 0.04-0.06 (I know a little higher then some of you sps nuts would prefer.. ) but since I started dosing my Phos jumped to 0.12..

now the real issue im having is the HUGE alkalinity swing ive had in the past two days.. normally I my Alk is around 10 (190 PPM, via hanna checker)
my Alk has spiked to 244 PPM... which I know is my main problem...

I guess im asking is what all does this Zerovit Flatworm Stop have in it, and what all does it affect? that makes other corals benefit from it? as well as kill AEFW?...

ive read excellent reviews on it.. and cant really find a review like what im experiencing so.. im wondering if its something else? .. but this is really the only new thing added to my tank...

Any input would help greatly as I don't wanna loose my SPS collection

yea, ive been doing the bayer dip... was just getting sick of it..and constantly messing with the corals...
:/

The flatworm stop is more to strengthen your coral tissue not kill flatworms if you are disappointed you probably didn't read the 100 threads regarding its effects / results in reef aquariums......

i actually did read tons of threads... on how it doesnt kill flatworms instead causes the corals to slime..ect..ect...

again.... ..im trying to figure out why it caused my tank to have a huge alk spike.... and if anyone else experienced this...

There are a couple threads around that suggest that PO4 increases with FWS use. I have not experienced this in my tank, however.

Guess you didnt read anything either. First production bottleclaimed to ""help rid flatworms". After they sold many bottles and reefers said it didnt rid their tanks they changed the label to "Help strengthen"

Yeah I'm aware of what the first bottles claimed don't hijack someone else's thread to try and start an argument, especially after I already admitted to posting in error to the actual question the OP was asking.
Happy reefing!

However the best method I've actually seen work first hand for eradication of AEFW is to cut the bases from your corals and remove them from the aquarium, then you dip your remaining colony with coral rx scraping any eggs off . You continue to dip every 2 weeks and the new eggs can be removed from the super glue that now serves as the corals base you keep doing this until the worms cease to thrive

I've done the same but with Seachem's Reef Dip. It doesn`t stress the corals, doesn't kill instantly bugs or flatworms, but they leave inmediately the coral and fall to the bottom of the tupperware you use for the bath.
When you dip a coral, every living thing runs inmediately free (except asterinas) and doesn't attach to the coral again. Only 10 minutes dip.

Nothing kills eggs, you have to scrap them manually from the lost tissues of the base of the acropora. Or cut that part.

alk swing

alk swing

As far as the alk swing I have seen this in my system which I am upgrading right now at the moment. If the corals became stressed they stopped growing of which mine did and then your regular dosing regimin which kept things stable up to now has exceeded the requirements for the corals that are no longer using the carbonate at the same rate so your alk starts to rise due to over supply and demand. Hope this helps just my personal experience. As far as flat worms keep on the Bayer and maybe invest in a sixline warasse (a small one they have a greater appeitite due to not being able to eat prepared foods and are less aggressive. IMO ) If that doesnt work maybe read through the living with AEFW threads.

Best of Wishes

Russ
