Zero mushroom growth.

I've had rics, rhodactis, hairy, and plain green green mushrooms for months now. I have had zero growth with any of them. I have had noticeable growth with various lps, softies, and one sps during this same time. Am I missing something or are they painstakingly slow growers?

Mushrooms kind of like "dirty" water. Some mushrooms I swear only have a mouth for decoration. They take in nutrients passively through the water. Other mushrooms will eat... like Ricordea. So if you want them to grow quickly, then I would suggest you spot feed them at least once a week, but not every day. Every other day would be pretty aggressive imo.

Smaller the stuff, the better.... Reef Roids and Reef Chili and such, are good foods to try as well. But sometimes it takes a while for them to eat it all, so you'll have to keep the pumps off for a few minutes. I've had a lot of luck with nutramar ova. Most of my mushrooms will eat that stuff up, except for my jawbreakers. :(

Also you might have to adjust your expectations. You've said that you've seen zero growth, but over what period of time? A month? A Year? With some of my ricordea, it took months for them to grow noticably. But at some threshold point, many mushrooms, will start actively walking around leaving pieces of their foot behind, and reproduce rapidly, in my experience.

thought i put the timeframe of growth in my first 4-6months for most of the shrooms. i have never tried reeffrenzy or reef chilli. i spot feed once a week, but its always been mysis. so no good for them.

Not only will feeding the food particles probably help, but it also help by temporarily raising the nitrate and phosphate, which as was said above, is the "dirty water" that many shrooms and zoo's like.

Some shrooms will grow much faster than others, which I'm sure you know. I tend to dose a touch more of strontium and iodine to get levels just above fresh salt mix has. I have really good shroom growth. It's worked good for me anyways...

I have heard that many mushrooms take six months to adjust before spreading. I read this fact on two different sites. So it may be that any day they will take off.

I had the same experience too with mushrooms. I had those regular red mushrooms (single head) for 8 months and it didn't spread until afterwards. I also had a couple rics that didn't grow at all until 7 months.

Thats good advise thanks all. Ive been watching some ofmy mushrooms grow bigger whist others stayed the same size. Have been wondering how they spread without fraging them.
