Zerowater Drinking pitchers ?

They use DI resin and carbon filtration. It works for 0tds water, but you have to replace the filter every 30 gallons or so, depending on tap water TDS. It equates to maybe $0.50/gallon.

You'd probably be better of purchasing water from a LFS.

Save your money and spend the $5 on a couple buckets of water from your LFS. I only have a 25g cube and my RO/DI is one of my best purchases yet. Definitely nice to have.

You could just let a few gallons of tap sit out a couple days(chlorine off gasses) and then pour it through DI resin. Resin is about 10$ Should last longer and cheaper to replace the DI than to buy these filters.

If you got a fridge with built in filter you could take water from it then run it through the Di resin, or build a cheap 2 stage with carbon and DI. All these will do the same thing for cheaper than a single 30$ refill and would last longer. The carbon will last a long time and you would only change the DI when it changed color.

I was using tap water and now I have hair alge problem .. was thinking its from tap water phospates ..
I rent and no place to install a RO/DI unit Maybe I just start buying RO/DI from my LFS for 60 cents a gallon
